My name is Lee. I live in the Pacific Northwest, sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the Cascades. If you know anything about this area, you know it's rainy. We live in a very moderate climate that rarely gets too hot or too cold (relatively speaking). I live here with my family, including my husband Steven and my two sons, Riley and Eli. I'm a personal trainer and nutrition coach while the kids are at school, and also do combat sports (Brazilian jiu jitsu and kickboxing). But my other loves involve gardening, being a little more self-sufficient than the average American, and the sort of things that go with that.
This blog came out of that love, and is a place to share about my experiences gardening, making homemade herbal products, canning, and other "homestead" type skills. We're not preppers, nor do we have acres of land to create a large homestead on, but we do what we can in our space. Right now, that's a suburban home with a bit less than a quarter acre. Eventually we hope to buy a new home with more space and property, but I doubt we'll ever upgrade to a real farm with tens of acres. We're just your average family...mostly.
